Got The Life by Fieldy
Jul 15th, 2010
I was aware when guitarist Brian “Head” Welch left Korn, cleaned his act and embaced Christianity years ago but recent web hopping led me to a surprise when I found bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu also followed suit – in kicking drugs and becoming a Christian, at least.
Unlike Head, Fieldy is still with the band and has no plans of leaving anytime soon. What amazes me though is that he also wrote a book about his conversion so he can share his story with everyone. Got The Life: My Journey of Addiction, Faith, Recovery, and Korn is a book that could spark interest to anyone who listens to the band. Actually, I’m hoping to find a copy here in the country – although I won’t deny I’m more interested with Head’s Save Me From Myself book because he’s my favorite Korn member.
Anyway, it’s just nice to see rockers being open about their faith because that truly takes lots of courage. It’s not really considered cool to be Christian if you’re playing metal since the music, lifestyle and culture mostly leans toward the morbid, the obscene and everything else in between.
Thumbs up to Head and Fieldy then for not being “ashamed of the gospel of Christ” (Romans 1:16)!
